Around twenty-five thousand households in southeastern Queensland were left experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, generating wind gusts topping 109km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Broad Damage
Homeowners observed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units activated to address the widespread outages.
Victorian Weather Woes
Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the region, mostly for building damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

At one point on the previous day, more than 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were without power.

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both regions.

Medical authorities warned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the current weather patterns.
This warning comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
