World Series Final Game Captures 51 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The exciting extended matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total 51 million watchers across the US, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball stated this is the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable contest drew 27.33M viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series game after the 2017 Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% increase over the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in the country since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match series recorded 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two consecutive years.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total American viewership reached 16.1M. The overall World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09M watchers, an 8% increase over the previous year and the network’s strongest postseason performance after the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
